Newborn Sun

Stung so very sharply
By flashes of pain
Grimacing in voices
Of gruff thunders
Shedding an abundance
Of silvery tears
Sky throbbed in labor
Struggling all night
And, out came a new Sun
Swaddled in grey!

Share My Silence

Had I held some vibrant dreams
Wishful desires, vivid thoughts
To share with you, to speak much of.
Winds of whims swept some off
Pains from Past did burn some more
Tides of Time took most of them
Sparing only a sense of calm
Would you sit by my brittle Self
Sharing my silence, hand in hand?

Whiff of Hope

Unseen, unheard from, all through our lives
How do we humans still believe in a god
I often question in utter amazement
Until I think of you, my Beloved

Unseen till date, unheard from yet
Still I hold dreams of your arrival someday
Mere whiff of which does fill me with bliss
And, then, I realize that All-Healing Hope!

Born Special

Pity not their brittle looks
Perceive them not as pitiable lot
Twisted and taut limbs
Painful facial contortions
Wild tantrums, wavering moods
Stammering and slow thinking
Behind all these appearances
Dwell souls of supreme grit

Tender blooms in tenuous stems
Painting world in bright colors
Share fragrance with shaking winds
Deserving love, not pity
Dark, distorted rain clouds
Seemingly sad and spiritless
Shower us with drops of love
Stoking joy, not sympathy

Life hides its abundant strength
In all the forms that appear frail
Like the unseen silent breath
Offering sustenance to all beings
Just like clouds, little flowers
They too live by inner strength
So give them love, not sympathy
For they are no weaklings
They are, just, born special!

Moment of Magic

Urged by the whims of art
I often pick a brush to paint
Dipping it in a delightful color
Forming to lay the first streak
On the face of plain canvas
I panic for a fleeting moment
Shy of smearing the pristineness
Brushing aside that flimsy fright
Love for art leading on
I progress then to paint it whole

Did you feel this way, my Love
When you let your slender fingers
Wrap around my restless ones
In that first blissful moment
Shunning all signs and sounds
To speak in words of soulful touch
Hinting at your heart’s intents?
Did your heart flutter a while
As you painted the first touch
In the canvas of our pure love?

Whimpering God

Har Har Mahadevs, Hallelujahs
Allahu Akbars, other such chants
Rend this air with rabid fervour
Grumbling voices, paranoid faces
Eyes that see with seething rage
Loudly whisper lowly vengeance
Clamour of castes, religious frenzies
Bursting at the seams of minds
Speak so wild in sinister tones
Amidst these baleful battle cries
I sense a whimpering voice of Sense
Is that you, my castaway God
Trying to teach us fraternal bonds?
When you preach the words of love
Speak them a little loud and strong
Lest they drown unheeded
Dampened by this deadly din!

Krishna’s Promise

Oh, my dearest doe-eyed Radha
Woman of all my vibrant dreams
Why I sense a senseless envy
Surging through your slender being
As I trifle with simple Gopis?
Why you wet your cheeks in vain
Letting envy fret your heart
Yearning when I am ever yours?!

Fragrant flowers of myriad hues
Abound all around in Vrindavan
Yet the simple, sacred Tulsi
Asserts this jungle as her own -
Dainty damsels, divinely nymphs
Ardor-stoking apsaras-forms
Seek me with their sinless love
Yet this simple cowherd girl
Brimming with pure boundless passion
Will ever get me as her One!
