Playing with my palette’s pigments
I once portrayed a female’s face
Found at my dreamy heart’s figments!
Blushing cheeks red as rose
Eyes so lost in absent gaze
Curves and contours, curls in place
I brought to life, a lovely face!
Setting away my sodden brush
I stepped aside to cast a glance!
Proud to see my pretty woman
I stood content of a work well done!
Spotted then, a streak of paint
Smeared across her chin, a wee bit!
Dismayed by the tiny blemish
I let it drain my delight away!
Running came, then, my little niece
Waving in front a creased sheet!
Scribbled in it was a clumsy troll
Lines for limbs, features as pebble!
A wobbly circle formed its face
My little one felt glee for it, yet!
Beaming face and bright little eyes
She taught me some lessons of Life!
Displeased at the trivial details
We fail to view Life’s vast canvas!
Unhappy at the presence of thorns
We often ignore the rose gardens!
Life is a joy to those who ‘live’
Not just a chore to, sulk and strive!
Life is in those uncounted blessings
Ignored by us in daily, little things!
Let us let go our plaintive pursuits
Learn to learn from the inevitable thorns!
Let’s go picking Life’s abundant gifts
Lying untended in Time’s pathways!
