Life’s little loveless tussles
Tousle up our tireless passion
Carving a silent void between us
As we sit seething with anger
Donning faces of indifference
Something stirs deep within me
Why a vain sense of righteousness
All this amount of abrasiveness?
Why I cling to a foolish ego
Awaiting you to break our silence
And offer acts of apologies?
Are true all my tender words
Boastful promises of pure care
If I let these trivial things
Be the blots in our pure bonding?
What good is a wholesome Moon
If every wafting wisp of smoke
Is to smear her pristine charm?!

Lest one leaves when other wilts down
Let’s not be like the Moon and light
Lest our love does wax and wane
Let’s not be like the skin and shadow
Lest one quits in the days of darkness

Pervading as a passion undying
Pulsating through my whole being
Be with me like the breath I take
Unseen and yet all through me
Filling me with your being’s warmth
Till I breathe my last one here!

சலனம் காட்டும் திரைச்சீலை
நீ உலர வைத்து எடுக்க மறந்த
உன் வாசம் தோய்ந்த ஈர உடை
நீ நிதம் வைக்கும் வட்டில் சோற்றை
எதிர்பார்த்து வாசல் நிற்கும்
தெருவோர நாய்க்குட்டி
தூசு படிந்து தனிமையிலே
நிற்கும் உந்தன் மிதிவண்டி -
நான் மட்டும் இல்லையடி
நீ வரும் நாளை எதிர்நோக்கி,
உயிரான என் தோழி!

எவ்வளவோ எதிர்பார்த்து
மனத்தினூடே சேர்த்து வைத்தேன்
அளவில்லா ஆசைகளும்
சின்னச் சின்ன கனவுகளும்
புத்தகத்தில் புதைத்து வைத்த
வண்ணமான பூப்போல
 
நீ பிரிந்து யுகம் கடந்தும்
வண்ணம் மங்கி வாடினாலும்
வாசமெல்லாந் தொலைந்தாலும்
உருக்குலைந்த காகிதத்தில்
ஒட்டி நிற்கும் மிச்சம் போல்
செல்லரித்த இதயச்சுவற்றில்
ஆங்காங்கே தொக்கி நிற்கும்
அழகாக உன் நினைவுகள்!

Why do you now try in vain
O, my somber-hued Love
To quell my bitter tears of pain
With a few sweet kisses
Sweetness-soaked embraces
Abundant words of allegiance
How will all these ever suffice
To spare me throes of separation
Pain of parting sears me now
As raging flames of wilderness
Why do you try dousing it
With these tender dewy blooms!

To this cantankerous world
Unless when armed
With an assortment of guises
We might first ask
As to which Book you choose
And then some more
About those tongues you use
Religious preferences
Caste, clan, creed differences
Fail not to paint yourself
As from any one of these
Make not the boring claim
Of yourself being One
We may first laugh at you
With our faiths wilting down
We may then shun you out
For feigning divinity
All of us do agree here
Of the Divine being One
Whose one is that Right One
Is what we war over!

Sky runs a circus tonight
Dangling dark nimbus clouds
Slouch around like old elephants
Dancing to the tunes
Of thunderstorm’s clapping
Whipped by wild flashes
Of the whimsical lightning
Mother yells from inside
Offering words of advice
‘Call the name of Arjun
To protect you from thunder’
My wandering mind wonders
Whose name would Arjun chant
To ward off his rain fears!
